Owned and run in Canada

A Canadian region is not a Canadian company.

Any large provider can put a data centre in Canada. What it cannot rent is the company behind it. CACloud is run by iDigital Internet Inc., registered in British Columbia since 1998, on its own hardware, by its own staff.

Here is why that difference matters. The US CLOUD Act requires a US provider to hand over data in its possession, custody, or control, and says in its own text that this applies regardless of whether the data is located within or outside of the United States.1 A Canadian region does not change which law the provider answers to. CACloud is not a US provider: it is incorporated in Canada, owned in Canada and run in Canada. Canada's own government puts the other half plainly — data residency does not mitigate against the application of foreign laws.2

This is not a claim that nobody can ever ask for your data. Canadian production orders and mutual legal assistance requests still exist. It is a claim about whose law decides: Canadian law, in Canadian courts.

A Canadian company, not a Canadian address
CACloud is operated by Canadian Web Hosting, the hosting business of iDigital Internet Inc. — registered in British Columbia since 1998 and owned by a Canadian citizen. The company that signs your contract, answers the phone and sends the bill is that one. You can look it up.
Our own buildings, our own staff
3 facilities in Toronto and Vancouver, each with UPS and generator power and a network operations centre staffed around the clock. The people who can touch your server work here.
Billed in Canadian dollars
Every plan is quoted and invoiced in CAD, from a Canadian company, so the price you read is the price on the invoice.

Locations

Choose your city. Or both.

Launch an SSD server in Toronto, a private cloud in Vancouver, or one of each. The platform is the same in every facility, so you get the same experience wherever you land.

What every server includes

Built to be checked, not just described.

  • 24/7 in-house support

Trained support staff on our own team answer around the clock, by phone, email or ticket. It costs nothing extra.

  • Your own nodes, run by us

A Private Cloud is Proxmox VE on hardware reserved for you, with Ceph storage across the nodes. You get the isolation without owning a rack or hiring people to watch it.

  • Storage that does not depend on one disk

Your data is written to several disks on several servers at once, so no single disk or server holds the only copy. Losing a drive loses no data, and nothing your server needs sits on a single machine.

  • DDoS protection on every plan

Cloudflare Magic Transit network DDoS protection is included with every plan on every line, at no extra charge. Attacks are absorbed at the edge before they reach our network.

  • A written monthly availability commitment

SSD Cloud Servers and production private clouds of three nodes or more carry a written availability commitment, measured every calendar month. Miss it and you get a credit. The one-node development environment carries no availability commitment, on purpose.

  • Private networking

Each customer gets their own VLAN, enforced at the hypervisor, so one customer's machines cannot see another's traffic.

Support

Trained, in-house experts at every hour.

Our customer experience team helps you pick the right plan before you buy, and answers the phone after.

Included with every plan

Phone, email and ticket support 24/7 at no extra cost. The Support Policy says exactly what a self-managed plan covers.

The FAQs answer the common ones. Or call 1-866-821-8355.

Compliance

What an auditor will ask for.

Three answers a procurement or privacy review usually needs, stated the way the law actually reads.

SOC 2 Type II report
The group holds a SOC 2 Type II report: an independent auditor tested that the controls actually operated over a review period. Nobody is "certified" against SOC 2 — it produces a report, and we send it on request so your auditors can read the control list.
PIPEDA
Canada's federal privacy law governs the personal information you hold, and ours as your supplier. It does not require the data to stay in Canada — keeping it here simply removes one of the questions you would otherwise have to answer about a transfer.
PHIPA (Ontario health records)
Under Ontario's health privacy law the accountability sits with the health custodian, not the host, and there is no residency rule. What a custodian needs from us is breach notification, an audit trail and a written description of the service. We provide all three.

The long version, with the control list and the nine PIPEDA obligations, is on the compliance page.

Services and add-ons

Everything else a site needs, from the same panel.

Each one works with any of the product lines above and is billed on the same Canadian-dollar invoice.

Moving to CACloud is easy.

Tell sales what you run today and which city it should live in. We will pick the plan with you and move your data over at no charge.
