It's very easy to upgrade an existing Cloud Server. Simply log into your control panel, and buy some additional resources, assign them to your machine. The system will shut down your machine, upgrade it, and bring it back up automatically.

What’s the difference between Cloud VMs and Elastic Cloud Servers?
Cloud VMs are cloud servers with preset resource allocations. With these servers you only get the resources designated for your server and the server does not “burst” in the event that you see a spike in traffic or usage. Elastic Cloud Servers offer increased flexibility as they provide elasticity or flexibility to be able to apply additional resources to your server during high load events. When signing up, you can designate extra resources that can be applied to your server and that would be utilized during those peak events. Usage reporting will be provided on a regular basis and invoices are available through your control panel.
Is support 24/7?
Yes, our support teams are available via email 24/7. However, because these servers are self-managed, you should verify what is supported at www.cacloud.com/support and know that the standard response time is within 24 hours. We recognize that occasionally everyone may need some help. If you need true 24/7/365 response time, sign up for our managed service option starting for as little as $20.00 per month.
Is backup included with my Server?
Flexible and Elastic cloud servers include snapshot backups and the amount is dependent on each individual plan. For all other plans, R1Soft backup can be purchased as a backup service.

Canadian Cloud Hosting utilizes Tier III data centre facilities located at 151 Front Street in Toronto, ON and 555 West Hastings in Vancouver, BC.
Can I run Windows or Linux on my Cloud Server?
Yes, you can select from 100’s of pre-configured templates for your Cloud Server right from the control panel including Windows 2008, Windows 2003, Redhat, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu and CentOS. Plus, you have the ability to one-click install many of the leading applications like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and so many more.
Can I use a control panel with my Server?
Yes, Canadian Cloud Hosting offers the industry leading control panels for Linux and Windows Servers. You can add cPanel and/or Plesk to your server during the sign-up process. We utilize the latest versions and for customers who want a pre-configured package, we also offer cPanel and Plesk Shared Cloud Hosting with industry leading virtualization from VMware.
What is a Private Cloud?
Private Clouds are for organizations looking for maximum control of their data but want the benefits of the cloud. What is Shared Cloud Hosting?
Similar to Shared Hosting, our cPanel and Plesk Shared Cloud Hosting offer customers pre-configured servers and services in an easy-to-use web hosting package. However, our Cloud Shared Hosting Servers are built on VMware and deliver the highest uptime available for any shared hosting plan in the market. In addition, our Shared Cloud Servers utilize Automatic Failover and Distributed Resource Scheduling that moves customers to servers with lower usage to ensure they have adequate resources to run their sites or applications.
How long will a Server upgrade take?
This depends on how much data is stored on your server(s), but typically upgrades are usually completed within one to two minutes, but downgrades can take up to one hour.
How do you allocate resources?
Each Cloud Server is made up of one or more nodes. Each node is allocated a guaranteed amount of CPU and RAM as well as shared storage space and monthly bandwidth. The great thing is that each of the resource options can be upgraded through your control panel. The more resources you assign to a Cloud Server, the more physical resources will be dedicated to your system. Unlike many other providers, we do not oversell or share any resources between machines.
How much technical knowledge do I need?
Cloud Servers with Canadian Cloud Hosting can be setup online within minutes. You get an easy-to-use control panel and the use of pre-installed software that require very little experience to get started. It is important to remember that unlike Canadian Web Hosting, Cloud VMs and Elastic Cloud Servers by default are not managed. (Login to your control panel for Managed Service options, or visit www.canadianwebhosting.com for managed VPS’s), each user is responsible for maintaining their own server(s).
Do you offer Managed Services?
Canadian Cloud Hosting does offer an optional Managed Services plan starting at $20.00 per month, as part of this, our team will perform OS updates, vulnerability patching and server hardening. In addition, you get access to our pro-active managed support team help for the setup and management of your VPS without any additional cost.
What can I do with my Cloud Server?
You can host any services you like from your Cloud Servers including web hosting, application hosting, software as a service hosting, or even an Asterisk voice over IP system. You will have root access to your server so you are in complete control as long as it doesn't violate our terms of service.
How much can I host from my Cloud Server?
There is no limit to how many services, domains, or applications you can run from a cacloud.com server. However, you need to make sure that you allocate enough resources to deal with the services you expect to provide.
How do you back up data?
Once backups are enabled on your system, it will automatically be backed up every day, so you will always have the opportunity to roll back your cloud server in case something goes wrong. Simply login to your control panel, select “Manage”, and then click on the “Storage” tab. Once there, you can enable auto-backup and/or modify your existing back settings.
What if I break my Server?
If you break your system, you can easily get it back up and running again either by restoring a recent backup, or by deleting it and creating a new VM with a clean installation; all of which can be completed right through your control panel.
What if I want to change my OS?
At any time, you can create a new Cloud Server from any of our templates by recreating your server, or adding a new server built around your new requirements. To rebuild, simply login to your control panel, select “Manage,” and click on the “Rebuild” button. Once selected, you can pick your OS and distribution and begin the rebuild process.
How secure is my data?
All data is stored on our RAID10 SAN and is encrypted with 256 bit AES encryption. If you have backups enabled for your system, these will be stored separately from the primary data store. All servers and storage are 100% Canadian and abide by Canadian privacy and security requirements.
How many IPs do I get?
All systems come automatically configured with at least 1 dedicated IP address, as indicated in each hosting plan. If additional IPs are required, you can purchase those directly from the control panel, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request additional IPs.
Can I add a firewall to my server?
Absolutely. You can configure a software-based firewall on your server by logging into your control panel, select “Manage,” pick your cloud server where you would like to add your firewall. Once there, click on the “Network” tab where you will see an option for Firewall. You can configure your firewall settings there. If you need assistance, you can email our support team for configuration assistance for $10.00. If your server is self-managed, we recommend keeping your applications and operating system up-to-date with patches to keep your systems secure.
Are Windows Cloud Servers available?
Yes, we currently support Windows 2003 and Windows 2008. You can also select our Plesk Shared Cloud Hosting option for a pre-configured Windows Server package including the Plesk Control Panel.
How do you bill?
If you are using a Shared Cloud Hosting plan, Cloud VM or Private Cloud, all charges are monthly and will be automatically paid from your card, and services can be cancelled at any time. For Elastic Cloud Servers, you will be charged by use and will receive regular usage reports documenting your charges. All invoices are available through your control panel interface.
How do I add funds to my account?
You can add funds at any time by simply logging into your account and selecting the option to “Add Funds” on the right side.
Are you SAS70 certified?
Yes, Canadian Cloud Hosting is SSAE 16 Type II (formerly SAS70) certified and we complete our annual audits every May. Through this certification, we are able to help our clients meet their corporate governance requirements and can provide audited reports upon request.
Can I restrict IP access?
Yes, you can restrict allowable IP address by accessing your account and selecting “Allowed IP Access” in the Quick Links section on the right side.
How do I see my Server status?
You can get real time status on your server by visiting your control panel and select “Server Status” through the Quick Links section on the right side.
Can I add additional contacts to my account?
Yes, you can add additional access to your services and tickets by simply updating your account through your control panel. Login through your control panel, select “Dashboard,” look at the quick links on the right side where you see an option to “Manage Contacts.” Follow the prompts and update your account accordingly.
How do I change my password?
Changing your password is very easy and can be updated by simply accessing your account and selecting the “Account” tab at the top of the page. Select the “Change Password” option and follow the prompts.
What payment options are available?
Canadian Cloud Hosting selects a variety of payment methods including Paypal, Credit Card, eSelectPlus, and Check Payment.
What is the speed of my CPU?
Each vCPU is the equivalent of one physical core or 2.67GHz.
What is the difference between the Elastic Cloud and Flexible Cloud?
With an Elastic Cloud Server you get a cloud server with is both scalable and flexible. You can increase your resources for your server as needs change, however unlike a Flexible Cloud Server you are only allowed to run a single instance or cloud server with those resources. A Flexible Cloud VM allows you to create a pool of resources and create as many as 8 VMs in one cloud. With this option, you can also set your server to auto-scale and use any extra resources you have in the event of a traffic spike. Both options are highly available and can be controlled through your customer control panel.
What is Cloud Hosting?
There are many definitions of the “Cloud” but in our case, it refers highly available, scalable, virtualized servers accessible over the internet. Each of these virtual servers can be controlled through an easy to use control panel.
Can I use control panels like Plesk and cPanel for my Cloud Servers?
Yes, in addition to our Shared Cloud Servers you can also add cPanel to your Linux Cloud Server and Plesk to your Windows Cloud Server. The cost for the control panel is $15.00 per month.
Can I register domains through Canadian Cloud Hosting?
Yes, simply register for an account here at http://www.cacloud.com/panel/index.php?/signup/ and you purchase domains through your control panel. The cost is dependent on what type of domain is being purchased.
How is Cloud Hosting different than a CDN (Content Delivery Network)?
A CDN is used to distribute copies of static content such as images and videos to the edge of the network, making it geographically closer to your customers. However, this only works for content that is static and not dynamic, and cannot be used for dynamic web content or general compute applications in the same way as a cloud server.
What’s the difference between Self-Managed and Managed?
Because of the simplicity of our self-managed platform, all Canadian Cloud Hosting services are entirely self-managed and can be controlled directly through the user control panel. if you are running a more complex configuration, or just wanted some assistance, you can add Canadian Cloud Hosting’s Managed Web Services to your account for $20.00 a month. How many VMs can I create with a Flexible Cloud?
Currently, you can create up to 8 virtual machines (VMs) in a single Flexible Cloud. You can purchase additional clouds or resources as needed.
What internet bandwidth is included with my Server?
Each server comes with a direct connection to the network backbone and utilizes premium Tier 1 Bandwidth. We do not throttle or limit your traffic in anyway.
Do you charge for bandwidth?
Each server comes with a dedicated allocation of bandwidth and once that is exceeded, there could be an additional charge. Please review your Cloud Server pricing under your control panel for further details.
Do your Servers auto-scale?
Yes, with a Flexible Cloud VM you are able to set your Cloud VMs to auto-scale and protect your website from traffic surges or increased resource utilization. With a Flexible Cloud, you can purchase a pool of resources and when creating your Cloud VM you select the option to “Auto-Scale.” In doing so, your server will automatically utilize remaining resources in your pool without taking your server offline of negatively impacting your end-users.
What is load balancing?
Canadian Cloud Hosting’s load balancing features are powered by Loadbalancer.org, a leading provider of load balancing technology. With Canadian Cloud Hosting’s virtual load balancing you are able to support clusters of virtual machines that present themselves to your users as a single website or application. Traffic is distributed across all of your virtual machines in the cluster, which improves performance and resilience for cloud hosting end users. Load balancing is managed through your customer portal in just a few clicks.
Does Canadian Cloud Hosting provide load balancing?
